Año Nuevo State Park
Nature Preserve with Elephant Seals Year-Round
Located 45 minutes south of Inn at Mavericks is Año Nuevo State Park, which consists of Año Nuevo Island and Año Nuevo Point. Año Nuevo State Park is the site of one of the largest mainland breeding colonies for the northern elephant seal, where every year up to 10,000 elephant seals return to breed, give birth, and molt their skin. The northern part park is also the location of California’s geographic center.
