If you decide to make your way down the coast from Inn at Mavericks be sure to explore the historic and very charming town of Pescadero located about 30 minutes south. A few local attractions in the town of Pescadero are: Duarte’s Tavern, Arcangeli Grocery Co (Norm’s Market / Bakery), Sante Family Wines, Harley Farms Goat Dairy, and Taqueria y Mercado de Amigos.

If you’re looking for a fun place to grab a bite to eat, try Duarte’s Tavern which has been a popular restaurant and meeting place in town since 1894. Duarte’s Tavern offers American country cooking, spiced with the Portuguese roots of the Duarte family. Ask for the fresh catch of the day and get ready to enjoy delicious local fish caught straight from the bay. Also be sure to try Duarte’s famous and freshly baked olallieberry pie.

Pescadero is hauntingly beautiful and looks as though it hasn’t changed much since the mid-1800’s. In fact, many of the buildings were constructed in the 19th century in the New England style of architecture. The Pescadero Community Church was built in May 1867 and is a California registered historical landmark. It is the oldest surviving Protestant church building on the San Francisco Peninsula on its original site and foundation.
